SACI's Gap Year Experience
Are you an artist or designer deciding where to go for college? Taking time out to explore your skills in an immersive environment at SACI in Florence will expand your knowledge and help you to develop your strengths and clarify your interests. You will grow and gain more insight about your career path and where to further your studies.
Florence as Your Classroom
SACI's extensive range of studio arts, design, conservation, art history, and Italian culture and language courses will connect you with the vibrant cultural heritage of Italy and provide you with the means to build your portfolio. You can enroll for semester, year and/or summer. SACI is a US-accredited university-level art school and instruction is in English.
Italy as Your Campus
Field trips are an integral part of the SACI experience. Classes visit Venice, Rome, Milan, Naples, Bologna, Pisa, Lucca, Ravenna, and Siena. In addition to traveling to many famous Italian cities over the course of the year, students visit local Florentine museums and historic sites on numerous academic field trips offered each term. Tuition includes all required class trips.
Connecting with the Community
SACI is located in the heart of Florence. You will have opportunities to create artwork for local hospitals, restore major art treasures, assist with the teaching of English at elementary schools, serve as an English-language museum guide, and aid at human rights agencies. SACI has developed collaborations with the Galleria dell’Accademia, the Bargello, and the Ferragamo Museum that will enable you to work on hands-on projects at these renowned museums.
